Uzbekistan, USAID implement a new project worth almost $19 million

TASHKENT, August 23. /“Dunyo” IA/. Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the U.S. Agency for International Development in Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration in agriculture through the recently launched USAID Agribusiness Development Project, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The document was signed by the Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khodjayev and the USAID Uzbekistan Mission Director Mikaela Meredith.

Mr. Khodjayev highly appreciated the support of the U.S. Government in terms of technical assistance to the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan, development of the potential of value chains of agri-food systems.

USAID officials announced an additional newscat="%" million in funding to support women in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.

The USAID Agribusiness Development Project, launched in July 2020, is a five-year project aimed to support the private sector in Uzbekistan’s agriculture through the introduction of new technologies and management practices throughout the fruit and vegetable value chain.

USAID works with Uzbekistan to diversify the country’s economy and increase regional trade, address serious health threats, including COVID-19, and build the government’s capacity to respond to population needs.
