Uzbekistan, Turkey develop collaboration in pilgrimage tourism

ISTANBUL, March 10. /“Dunyo” IA/. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul jointly with representatives of the State Committee for Tourism Development, hosted a roundtable discussion with the participation of journalists, heads of travel companies and companies from among ethnic Turks permanently residing in Europe, as well as entrepreneurs who intend to invest in this sector of Uzbekistan’s economy, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

Opportunities for safe pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan, as well as the country’s achievements in combating the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, were presented at the event.

It was noted that there are two regular flights of Turkey and Uzbekistan airlines from Istanbul to Tashkent every day. Other air routes will start operating at the end of March, which will connect Istanbul with Samarkand, Urgench and Fergana.

The parties considered issues of increasing the number of regular flights between the two countries, as well as further activation of activities to attract tourists to Uzbekistan.
