Uzbekistan to showcase authentic culture and stunning nature through the prism of ethno-tourism at the Boysun Spring festival

Uzbekistan to host the “Boysun Spring” (Boysun Bahori) International Folklore Festival on 1-7 May 2024.

The event is held biennially in Boysun District, Surkhandarya Region. It aims to promote the ethno-tourism and eco-tourism potential of Uzbekistan, foster mutual cultural enrichment among nations worldwide, as well as further unleash the power of the creative industry.

This year the cultural event is taking place at a brand-new modern tourism complex, located in the “Bibishirin” neighborhood of Boysun district. The complex houses a modern hotel with 110 beds, a craft center for 100 seats, a modern amphitheater with 3200 seats, as well as traditional yurts representing 15 districts of the region.

This year the festival will bring together folklore performers and art lovers, folklorists, and industry experts across the world among the stunning mountains of Uzbekistan.

The festival is a unique platform to feel the vibes of folklore-ethnographic communities, introduce national sports games, and enjoy other various performances of local and foreign artists.

The program of the festival has a diversity of offerings, including an international scientific-practical conference, the national cuisine festival of tandir kebab (lamb kebab cooked in Uzbek tandoor, which is authentic food of Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan), national craft exhibitions, national costume defile, drone and auto shows, various concert programs, bicycle marathon, traditional air balloon festival.

Furthermore, the guests will be able to enjoy trips to spring water, canyons, local historic monuments, kite flying, rooster fights, and other ethno-sports, wrestling and uloq (kupkari) equestrian competitions.

The event expects participants from 20 countries, 100,000 local and 5,000 foreign visitors.
