TASHKENT, June 11. /“Dunyo” IA/. The Global Youth Tourism Summit will be held in Uzbekistan in 2022, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The decision was announced during the visit of Uzbekistan delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Ulugbek Agzamov to Athens (Greece).
The head of the delegation met with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and UNWTO Director of the Regional Department for Europe Alessandra Priante.
Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at supporting the tourism sector during the pandemic. He also emphasized the role of the city of Samarkand as a bridge between East and West.
Talks were held with the delegations of the member countries of the UNWTO Regional Department for Europe. Cooperation issues were discussed with the heads of the delegations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Austria and Saudi Arabia.
