Uzbekistan, Thailand strengthen collaboration in tourism

The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, Tourism Authority, and Food and Drug Administration of Thailand held a videoconference on September 21.

The parties exchanged views and experience in mitigating the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on tourism industry and discussed plans for priority measures to resume international tourist trips.
 
In particular, the Committee provided detailed information about new sanitary- epidemiological safety system in tourism “Uzbekistan. Safe travel guaranteed”, new tourist sites and promising routes for Thailand market.
 
Director for the CIS TAT Anoma Wongyai confirmed high interest in resuming mutual tourist trips, noting the need for increasing regular flights between Uzbekistan and Thailand.
 
The Committee also proposed to step up work on attracting Thai Airways, taking into account wide opportunities and support measures created by the government of Uzbekistan (open sky regime, subsidies for the number of tourists, tariff benefits and others).
 
Personnel training for tourism sector was also discussed at the meeting. It was proposed to consider opening a joint tourism college with the involvement of one of the leading higher education institutions of Thailand based on secondary special education institutions under the State Committee for Tourism Development.
 
Following the meeting, agencies agreed to hold videoconferences on a regular basis with the involvement of tourism enterprises and associations of both countries.
