Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khodjayev visited Russia.
The visit began with a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev. The main topic of negotiations became issues of increasing supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia, as well as development of measures on assisting economic entities in implementation of these supplies.
The partners noted with satisfaction that in 2018, the trade turnover of agricultural products and food between countries increased by more than 20 percent and amounted to about 550 million USD. An agreement was reached on sharing accumulated experience in crop production, fish farming, scientific-technical sphere, collaborating on digitalization of agriculture and integration of traceability systems of agricultural products.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the sides agreed to hold a meeting of joint working group on agriculture in the near future with participation of Uzbekistan’s suppliers, representatives of Russian trade networks and relevant agencies of the two countries.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Oreshkin, which resulted in identification of responsible persons for development of joint action plan for cooperation and implementation of promising joint projects.
During the dialogue with the Chairman of the Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs Igor Shuvalov, the Russian side announced its readiness for considering possibility of financing exports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia. In the near future, relevant documents will be developed for their further signing and launching joint activity.
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Fishery Sergey Lisovsky expressed parliamentary support for Uzbekistan’s plans on expanding trade-economic relations. The Russian side was informed about favorable conditions created in Uzbekistan for doing business, investing and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
Members of Uzbekistan delegation also held business negotiations on specific areas of cooperation with the heads of leading consulting structures and international companies.
