Uzbekistan, Malaysia discuss trade-economic cooperation

On July 30, 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov met with the CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, Wan Latiff Wan Musa, to discuss further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Wan Latiff noted that Uzbekistan is considered as a key partner of Malaysia among Central Asian countries in trade-economic and investment cooperation. This is confirmed by the opening of MATRADE Office in Tashkent at the Embassy of Malaysia in Uzbekistan in October 2019, as well as the visits of delegations of Malaysian enterprises led by Corporation's management to Uzbekistan for holding business forums and B2B meetings.
 
He also praised measures taken by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the coronavirus pandemic to support population and business entities engaged in production of export-oriented products, as well as preservation of jobs.
 
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing a videoconference between the leadership of MATRADE and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to determine specific areas of mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at further development of bilateral trade relations, as well as to conduct online business matching between private exporting companies of the two countries in order to create a unique electronic platform for discussing issues of promoting goods and services.
