Uzbekistan delegation meets with Turkey’s FM

A meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Ankara.

The parties discussed measures taken by the governments of both countries to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and mitigate the negative impact of restrictive measures on sustainable development of various sectors of the economy, as well as prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in this direction. The Uzbek side noted the high efficiency of Turkey’s strategy to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The Turkish side was expressed gratitude for the support in countering the pandemic, in particular, for sending 30 thousand protective suits and 50 ventilators to Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, as well as 250 thousand masks and 5 thousand disinfectants provided by the Mayor’s Office of Ankara to the Khokimiyat of Tashkent city.
 
The Uzbek side also highly appreciated the technical assistance provided to Uzbekistan by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency over the past three years within the framework of implementation of 147 projects.
 
Special attention was paid to development of cooperation in cultural and humanitarian sphere. Plans were discussed to hold Uzbek Culture Days in Ankara and Istanbul in order to familiarize the public of Turkey with the rich historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
