Young people are taking an active part in the constitutional reform

The Youth Press Club of the Youth Affairs Agency hosted a workshop on the “Constitutional reforms – from the point of view of youth”.

It was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Press Secretary of the Constitutional Commission Odiljon Tajiyev, the Director of the Youth Affairs Agency Alisher Sadullayev, employees of the central office, regional departments and district (city) offices of the Agency, youth leaders of mahallas – in total more than 11 thousand people.

It was noted that about 50,000 proposals were received in the process of constitutional reforms, 70 percent of which fall on the youth. Based on the proposals received from the population, the updated draft Constitution was submitted for public discussion. 

The participants of the event noted that the amendments proposed for introduction to the Constitution affect the issues of ensuring human rights and freedoms, entrepreneurial activities, protection of private and intellectual property, as well as issues of medicine, ecology, information, social, judicial and legal spheres, and many others.

The workshop participants agreed on joint work by youth organizations to develop proposals aimed at ensuring the rights and interests of young people.
