The support to the entrepreneurs of Bukhara region affected by the hurricane

Within the period from May 8 to 10, a Working Group headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov and involving heads of ministries, departments, commercial banks and local authorities visited the Alat, Karakul and Jandar districts of Bukhara region. Here, they met with the local entrepreneurs (first of all - the owners of greenhouse facilities) affected by the hurricane at the end of April this year.

The members of the Group supported by the manufacturers and exporters from three regions developed certain mechanisms and algorithms of financial support focused on most rapid business recovery. In particular, a number of entrepreneurs received assistance in restructuring of debts on existing loans, acceleration of assessment of damage, acceleration of payment on insurance policies by insurance companies, as well as other concerns related to resumption of operation of greenhouse facilities and enterprises.

The heads of commercial banks took part in elaboration of the new financing for 170 projects in horticulture, livestock, poultry, fish farming and manufacture of construction materials, including creation of at least 2,000 new jobs in three districts. Formation of these projects portfolio considered agrarian and industrial potential of each district to cover unused reserves in promising areas and sectors with maximum economic effect.

A particular attention was paid to the restoration and strengthening of damaged and existing infrastructure. This included the design of projects focused on the development of drinking water supply systems in Dzhandar, Kagan, Karaulbazar, Romitan, Peshkun, Bukhara regions, as well as construction of sewage systems in the district centers of Karakul, Alat, Gijduvan, Romitan and Karaulbazar regions.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was involved in agreement on acceleration of implementation of the project for the reconstruction of regional, state and international roads in Bukhara region.

All developed mechanisms and instructions were assigned to certain executives represented by the heads of the relevant departments, commercial banks and local authorities, including determination of deadlines, as well as implementation of new projects and launch of enterprises established.

The Prosecutor General' s Office will strictly and regularly monitor timely and high-quality implementation of these measures and instructions.
