The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan meets with the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of GGGI

“Dunyo” IA/. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in Seoul, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Global Green Growth Institute.

The importance of opening a GGGI Representative Office in Uzbekistan in February 2022 was noted, which opens up wide opportunities for cooperation in curbing climate change processes, developing green technologies and a green economy, and decarbonizing industry based on international best practices, including South Korean.

In accordance with the agreement between the KOICA and GGGI, the project on green recovery for the Aral Sea region to overcome the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis is being implemented for .9 million. Projects are being developed in green agricultural production in the Aral Sea and renewable energy.

Ban Ki-moon noted that he is well aware of the environmental problems of Central Asia, has repeatedly visited the Aral Sea region, where he got acquainted with the catastrophic consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea.

He focused on the timeliness of the large-scale “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) initiative put forward by the President of Uzbekistan, as well as the Strategy for the transition to a green economy and the Program for the development of renewable and hydrogen energy adopted in Uzbekistan.
