SAINT PETERSBURG, April 10. /“Dunyo” IA/. A presentation of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential was organized for regional travel companies in the northern capital of Russia in connection with the transition of Uzbekistan Airways to the summer schedule, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to the Consulate General of Saint Petersburg (Russia), the event was held jointly with the representative office of Uzbekistan Airways JSC and its agent in the region, AeroTour.
At the event, the participants got acquainted with new achievements and current trends in Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, and its capabilities to attract foreign tourists to the country. It was emphasized that at present Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the preservation of historical monuments of architecture and the development of modern hotel infrastructure.
In addition, the participants of the event were informed about the measures taken in the country to liberalize the visa regime, simplify the registration of foreign citizens, and provide benefits and preferences for the development of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan.
The participants discussed the plans for the development of tourism between the cities of Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg. In this regard, the travel companies of Saint Petersburg expressed their intention to open a new direction toward Uzbekistan for residents of the North-Western Federal District of Russia.
