UZBEKISTAN-SINGAPORE TOURISM CENTRE WAS LAUNCHED IN SINGAPORE

This week the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore hosted the opening ceremony of the Uzbekistan-Singapore Tourism Centre in Singapore as a follow up to early cooperation agreement reached in 2018 between the State Committee for Tourism Development, the Embassy of our country and Singapore Company “S.E.A. Business Center Pte Ltd”.

By the invitation of Uzbek diplomats and representatives of “Uzbekistan Airways” company, opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Singapore in Uzbekistan (with residence in Singapore) Zulkifli Baharudin, representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Enterprise Singapore, National University of Singapore (NUS), representatives of academia, culture, humanitarian area, business and mass media.

 During his speech, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore Kakhramon Shakirov shared the information on the sustainable growth of cooperation in the area of tourism between two countries. He noted that collective efforts echoed in the growth of number of Singaporean tourists who visited Uzbekistan in 2018. In particular, 1,842 people compare to 611 in 2017.

 Following the Uzbek diplomat, Ambassador of Singapore to Uzbekistan (with residence in Singapore) Zulkifli Baharudin emphasized that our country has a significant tourism potential and is an unexplored market for bоth tourists and businessmen of Singapore.

 - Establishment of the Tourism Centre will unlock the doors to reliable and complete information about the tourist attractiveness of your country, - reassured Mr. Baharudin.

 While delivering his presentation, Head of S.E.A. Business Center Pte Ltd and the Uzbekistan-Singapore Tourism Centre Rudy Fang noted that he is very proud to be entrusted in setting up this Centre.

 - Our main goal is to provide any possible assistance in promoting the tourism brand of Uzbekistan not only in Singapore, but also amongst the Southeast Asia countries, ultimately, increasing the number of foreign tourists to Uzbekistan, - said Mr. Fang.

 A number of participants have also shared their impressions on the launch of this project.

 Thus, Director of TM Fouzy Travel Abdul Rakhim mentioned that they were one of the pioneers who promoted Uzbekistan as new tourism destination among Singaporeans, and is very excited about the launch of the Centre.

 Fazal Bahardeen, CEO of Crescent Rating and Halal Trip strongly believes that Uzbekistan has a great potential to develop tourism, including pilgrim tourism thanks to state’s rich Islamic history as well as ancient cities like Samarkand and Bukhara.

 In turn, Nomita Dhar, editor-in-chief at Sun Media Private Limited extended her warm congratulations to the Embassy of Uzbekistan on the launch of the Centre which, she believes, will boost the growth of country’s tourism industry.

 - I would like to wish persistency to work in close coordination in promoting this destination. Singaporeans must catch the next flight to Uzbekistan and experience its rich history, culture, lifestyle, the people and traditions along with national cuisine,- noted the editor-in-chief.

 Finally, Seldan Lim, a freelance writer for Expedia thinks that the launch of Uzbekistan-Singapore tourism Centre is a step forward in promoting Uzbekistan in Singapore’s tourism market. He strongly believes that Singaporeans will pay more regular visits to our country.
