Uzbekistan showcases tourism potential at the Asian Expo in Malaysia

he National Pavilion of Uzbekistan was inaugurated at the Asia Islamic Tourism and Trade Expo (AITEX) held in Selangor, Malaysia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The pavilion was organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the administration of the Surkhandarya region, national travel agencies, and Uzbekistan Airways.

Organized by the Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents and the Selangor State Administration, the exhibition brought together more than 150 travel agencies and halal product manufacturers from over 20 countries.

The event featured presentations on Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, highlighting large-scale reforms in the tourism sector and measures to develop pilgrimage tourism. Visitors learned about significant efforts aimed at creating favorable conditions for pilgrims.

Particular attention was given to the tourism opportunities in the Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khorezm regions, as well as Tashkent. Visitors received information about the rich cultural heritage, unique architecture, and national traditions of these areas.

Following the exhibition new tourist sites in the Surkhandarya region, including the shrines of Imam Termizi in the Sherabad district, Sufi Olloyar in the Altynsoy district, and the memorial sites of Muhammad Mavlano Zahid and Alovuddin Attar. Additionally, information was provided about the activities of the Imam Termizi International Research Center.

Tour companies demonstrated their services at the Uzbekistan stand: Grand Atlas Discovery, Sherin Travel, Antique Travel, Binkat Travel Group, Zilol Baht, and Boutique Hotel Medina. The programs presented included pilgrimage tourism, historical and cultural tourism, gastronomic tourism, as well as winter and business tourism (MICE).

During the B2B meetings between tour operators from the two countries, ideas for increasing the flow of Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan were discussed. Information was also provided about direct flights operated by Uzbekistan Airways between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur.

Additionally, the exhibition showcased Uzbekistan’s national crafts, including dried fruits and food products.
