In 2018 Kazakhstan hosted Uzbekistan Tourism Year. Within its framework, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, together with its Kazakh partners, carried out a number of activities. In particular, the first Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan tourism forum was held in March in Astana. More than 200 tour operators from the two countries attended it.
Representatives of Uzbekistan took part in the international tourism fair “Kazakhstan International Trade” organized in the capital of Kazakhstan. At the fair, along with traditional tourism destinations, information about medical tourism was presented. Media tour around the cities of Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, organized for representatives of the TV channel “Qazaqstan”, made it possible to demonstrate the wide tourist opportunities of our country.
In order to create even greater convenience for tourists, the number of flights increased in the following areas: Almaty – Tashkent – Almaty, Nur-Sultan – Tashkent – Nur-Sultan.
As a result of the practical work on the development of tourism cooperation between the two countries, over 2 million tourists from Kazakhstan visited Uzbekistan last year. This figure is almost 30 percent of the total number of all tourists who visited Uzbekistan in 2018.
