DISCOVER OPENING-UP, INNOVATIVE HANGZHOU

China Daily, the leading English-language newspaper of China orginised the media tour in Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province) in October.

The purpose of the event is to familiarize foreign journalists with the economic, socio-cultural development of Hangzhou.

Hangzhou is one of 7 historical capitals of China with a population of over 10 million people and a GRP of 0 billion, with a developed infrastructure and numerous skyscrapers that can compete with the largest cities in the West.

In 2016 Hangzhou hosted the G20 summit and in 2022 will host the Asian Games.

Until recent years, the city was closed to foreigners, and the local government set the task of opening up the city to the whole world (like Shanghai). For this purpose, major events are organized and foreign specialists are invited.

The headquarters of Alibaba (the expected trade turnover in 2020 is newscat="tourism" trillion) and other large Chinese firms are located in Hangzhou. Special attention is paid to the development of the digital economy and tourism (160 million local and foreign tourists visit a year).

nnovative approaches are being implemented in the city in all areas, from the construction of the metro and bridges to the computerization of the daily life of the city. The whole city is equipped with modern achievements of science.

In Hangzhou, we visited the City Planning Museum, the 1954 Constitution Archives Exhibition Hall, Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society, West Lake, Xixi Park of Alibaba Group, the Asian Games-2022 stadium, the Hangzhou International Expo Center, the G20-2016 meeting hall, innovative electronic valley "H3C", Southern Song Imperial Town.
