Bukhara: Tourism development prospects

Bukhara region has a huge potential and opportunities in the tourism industry. More than a thousand historical monuments and architectural ensembles are admired by tourists from all over the world.

Over the past half year, 43 large and small hotels were opened in the region, the total number of hotels reached 445. They have 4,974 rooms and 11,412 hotel beds. At the same time, the number of new hotels was 9, family guest houses – 19, hostels – 15. As a result of the promotional activities carried out during the reporting period, the number of tourists visiting the region exceeded 1 million 824 thousand people. If in 2021 the tourism sector brought 478.9 billion UZS to the economy of the region, then in 6 months of 2022 this figure exceeded 763 billion UZS.

To increase the flow of foreign tourists and create favorable conditions for them, in June 2022, for the first time, direct regular flights to Istanbul – Bukhara – Istanbul were launched. In addition, several cultural and entertainment events, forums, festivals and fairs have been organized.

Within the framework of regional investment programs for tourism in 2022-2023, 52 projects are being implemented worth 483.9 billion UZS. Among them is the construction of hotels, motels, catering establishments, the development of ecotourism, the development of tourist routes. Currently, 9 of the above projects have been launched.

The construction of three major hotel projects worth US million continues with the attraction of foreign investment. At the end of this year, it is planned to commission a 5-star Hyatt Regency Hotel and the 4-star Wyndham Hotel in Bukhara, the construction of which is being implemented by Metric Ventures LLC (India) and Wide Tent System (UK).

In the second half of 2022, to develop the tourism sector, it is planned to increase the number of hotels and other accommodation facilities to 450, the number of places in them to 12 thousand, as well as the opening of about 10 new tourist routes. It is also planned to increase the number of restaurants serving the tourism sector to 100, increase the flow of domestic tourism to 2.4 million people, which will create about 18 thousand new jobs in tourism and related industries.
