The winners of the Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art awarded

The Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan hosted a solemn event dedicated to the awarding of winners of the IX Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art.

The event was attended by representatives of various ministries and agencies, creative organizations, the diplomatic corps and international organizations operating in Uzbekistan, as well as artists and sculptors, designers, art historians, students.

Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, People’s Artist Akmal Nuriddinov noted that the holding of the Biennale at a high level indicates attention to the development of national art in the country.

The Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art is of great interest not only in the country, but also abroad. This is confirmed by the participation in the Biennale this year of 40 artists from 35 countries, including Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Brazil, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Spain, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Kuwait, Canada, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia, the United States, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Tunisia, France, Philippines, as well as 50 masters of contemporary fine arts of Uzbekistan.

25 foreign artists took part in the biennale offline and 12 online. In accordance with the program, the participants of the Biennale organized eight creative exhibitions, six master classes and lectures.

Foreign and domestic masters of digital art, installations, video and photo art, painting, graphics, and sculpture presented their works.

By decision of the jury of the Biennale, the Grand Prix was awarded to the creative group “5+1” consisting of Uzbek artists Diyor Rozikov, Nuriddin Rasulov, Sanjar Jabborov, Doniyor Sharafkhujayev, Sharif Sharafkhujayev, Uktam Saidov for the project “TAN”.

The first place at the biennale went to Batukhan Baimen from Kazakhstan for a solo exhibition, the second – Linda Maria Werner from Germany, the third – Uzbekistan’s Viktor An.
