/«Dunyo» IA/. Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new line of the Tashkent metro, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of state, the role of the metro in the capital’s public transport is enormous. To expand the coverage of this type of transport, an elevated metro was created at the initiative of the Head of state.

In recent years, the first stage of this significant project was implemented, and the Sergeli line was opened. The second stage was completed this year – an aboveground line was built from Quyliq to Sergeli district.

Yesterday, the President visited the new line and rode the subway with members of the public.

“When we started this project in 2017, some did not believe in its success. Here, glory to the Almighty, the underground and aboveground metro united and formed a ring. Yes, it wasn’t easy. But this path will serve our people and remain in history. If our people, our children, using this path, are satisfied with the state, then we have achieved our goal”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In the second stage, 12 kilometers of overpasses were laid, and 7 stations were built. It takes 15 minutes to ride from the beginning to the end of the line. More than 40,000 passengers will be served daily.

In general, the length of the Tashkent Metro has exceeded 70 kilometers. Of these, 38 kilometers were built after 1977. Over the past 7 years, 32 kilometers of tracks have been laid. The number of stations has reached 50. The daily passenger flow in the metro is expected to increase to 750 thousand people.

In addition, this year, the capital received a thousand new buses. As a result, up to 1.4 million passengers daily use public transport. All this is essential in reducing the need for personal transport and congestion on the streets.
