Termez hosted negotiations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan representatives

TASHKENT, October 18. /“Dunyo” IA/. On October 16, Termez hosted a working meeting of the delegations of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, Uzbekistan delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, the Afghan side was represented by Acting Deputy Head of the Interim Government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Salam Hanafi.

Representatives of various ministries and agencies discussed issues of trade-economic cooperation, border security, cooperation in energy, international cargo transportation and transit. Views were also exchanged on the development of ties in education and humanitarian fields.

The main attention was paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects, in particular the laying of the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power line and the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.

Following the meetings, several bilateral agreements were reached on the discussed issues.

Afghanistan delegation expressed deep gratitude to the Uzbek side for the hospitality and fruitful negotiations.
