For the first time in the history of the tournament, Uzbek sumo wrestlers made their debut on the international stage. The team of Uzbekistan included Abdukodir Usmonov (up to 80 kg), Makhmudjon Maksudov (up to 115 kg), Faridakhon Tulashova (up to 73 kg), and Durdona Abdujabborova (open weight).
A notable achievement for Uzbek sumo was the bronze medal won by Durdona Abdujabborova. In her category, she demonstrated excellent skills, securing two victories and experiencing two defeats against opponents from Estonia, Poland, and Ukraine. This accomplishment marked Uzbekistan’s first medal at the World Sumo Championship.
