Uzbekistan takes second place in Konya 2021

The sports delegation of Uzbekistan, which took 2nd place among 56 teams at the championships in Konya with 51 gold, 42 silver, and 65 bronze medals (158 in total), returned to Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the general public, relevant ministries and agencies, heads of sports federations, parents and relatives of athletes, journalists and youth gathered to meet the athletes who glorified the country with their bright victories.

At the solemn welcoming ceremony, the Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov read out the congratulations of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the athletes.

The winners of the Islamic Solidarity Games – judoka Muzaffar Turaboyev, 15-year-old athlete Sharifa Davronova, head coach of Uzbekistan Weightlifting Team Bakhrom Mendiboyev emphasized that the success achieved thanks to the conditions created in Uzbekistan will serve as a powerful incentive for high results in the upcoming future championships.

 “All conditions were created for us to achieve worthy results at such prestigious games”, says Akbar Jurayev, winner and record holder of the Islamic Solidarity Games. – We won thanks to the attention and care of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. I think that my achievements will be a small gift for the 31st anniversary of our independence.

The solemn ceremony of welcoming the athletes, who demonstrated the potential of New Uzbekistan youth in Turkey, was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Aripov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abduvakhitov.
