Uzbekistan might resume strict quarantine regime in several regions of the country

TASHKENT, May 26. /“Dunyo” IA/. This was announced during the event with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 26, informs “Dunyo” correspondent with reference to the Press-service of the President of Uzbekistan.

“For the last several days, the number of infected in Uzbekistan has increased. Noteworthy, that many heads of regions, businesses and citizens are reinterpreting the ease of quarantine measures,” stated President. “Disease hasn’t left yet,” he added.

To date, the country returned 47 thousand of its citizens back home. Most of them are infected. In the next 10 days, more 3,5 thousand Uzbekistani will be resumed via charter flights and 7 thousand through border posts.

Currently, 40 regions and cities of Uzbekistan are in “red zone”, 45 in “yellow”. “For the last 10 days, we witnessed the growth of infections among citizens who didn’t return from overseas,” noted the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Specifically, 57 cases were detected in Navoi region, 73 in Samarkand region and 114 in Tashkent region and the capital.

Considering the necessity to address arising challenge, President of Uzbekistan put forward a number of orders. The Republican commission along with khokims will have to re-assess categories of territories with worsened epidemiological situation and propose necessary steps to resume strict quarantine regime.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health is assigned to increase testing in “red” and “yellow” zones – testing in medical instructions, bazaars, banks and other public spaces will be expanded.
