Uzbekistan, Malaysian Deputy Prime Ministers review joint projects implementation

Virtual talks have been held between the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Senior Minister, the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Mohamed Azmin Ali. 

The parties considered the progress in the implementation of joint projects and initiatives, as well as prospects for further enhancing cooperation in investment, trade, economic, transport and logistics, cultural, humanitarian and tourism spheres.
 
Mutual interest was noted in further increasing the trade turnover by establishing strong ties between suppliers and customers of the two countries. An agreement was reached to unite the efforts of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia for holding a meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade, within the framework of which Uzbekistan – Malaysia Business Forum will be held with participation of leading companies of the two countries in chemical, agricultural, food, textile and electric power industry.
 
Prospects of implementing Malaysian experience in digitalization of trade were emphasized.
 
The parties also discussed the plans for creating Halal Centre of Excellence in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Uzstandard Agency and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
 
Following the videoconference, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group for promoting and implementing the discussed and agreed initiatives.
