Uzbekistan, Japan advance inter-parliamentary cooperation

02.10.2020 16:39

A meeting has been held with the Member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament, Kiuchi Minoru, to discuss the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Issues of further intensifying inter-parliamentary interaction in the context of the coronavirus pandemic were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in December last year gave a powerful impetus to Uzbekistan – Japanese cooperation, including to inter-parliamentary ties.

An agreement was reached on joint development of bilateral measures to strengthen cooperation between the Inter-Parliamentary Group “Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan – the Parliament of Japan” and the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan.

Supporting the candidates and initiatives of Uzbekistan and Japan within the framework of international organizations, including the UN, as well as parliamentary structures, was also discussed.
