Uzbekistan, FAO sign Project Agreements

Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khojayev, and FAO Representative in Uzbekistan, Viorel Gutu, have signed online project agreements.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the signed projects are aimed at further development of agriculture and improving the living standards of the population. In particular, according to the agreements, the further development of the greenhouse economy through the introduction of modern technologies will enhance pest control.
 
The .4 million project, Smart Agriculture for the Next Generation, is designed for four years and will be implemented in two countries (Vietnam and Uzbekistan). The financial partner is the Republic of Korea.
 
Speaking about the results of joint projects, Jamshid Khojayev thanked FAO for cooperation in development of agriculture, food industry and employment in Uzbekistan, as well as for the implementation of strategic goals.
 
At the meeting, the Minister noted that in November 2020, the FAO 32nd Regional Conference for Europe will be held in Uzbekistan, via videoconference.
