Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov has held a meeting with the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies of Malaysia (ISIS) Herizal Hazri.

At the meeting, the Malaysian side was informed in detail about the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, voiced during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Herizal Hazri expressed interest in further building up cooperation with Uzbek partners, including the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS). In May 2018, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between ISRS and ISIS.

The parties agreed to hold virtual talks between the management of ISRS and ISIS to discuss and exchange views on prospects for enhancing cooperation, as well as best practices in combating coronavirus and adapting to new realities in the post-pandemic period.

The sides also agreed to hold joint events with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the city of Kuala Lumpur to widely familiarize the socio-political, expert-analytical and business circles of Malaysia with the rich cultural and historical heritage, trade, economic and tourism potential of Uzbekistan.
