Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan to create a joint farm to grow mulberry seedlings

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in sericulture was launched based on a memorandum signed by the heads of state at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in 2019.

The memorandum provides for the development of sericulture in Azerbaijan. This area is successfully developing with the practical assistance of specialists from Uzbekistan.

Work is underway to launch a sericulture joint venture in Azerbaijan, to organize the processing of secondary waste and the production of silk, and to develop a forage base.

Abdurashid Abdullayev, head of Khorezm Regional Department of the Committee for Sericulture and Karakul Breeding, met with the Chairman of the Agency for Development of Economic Zones of Azerbaijan Elshad Nuriyev, in Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing a farm for growing mulberry seedlings. For this, the Government of Azerbaijan will allocate an area, the farm will be exempted from paying land tax for a certain period.
