The Ministry of Defense of Russia has completed the first stage of clinical trials of a new coronavirus vaccine being developed jointly with the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. F. Gamaleya. This is reported by RIA Novosti international news agency.

According to the Ministry of Defense, for 28 days, specialists monitored the condition of volunteers who participated in the trial of a new drug. All this time, their vital signs remained within normal limits. There were no health complaints and no serious adverse signs, complications or adverse reactions. Available data from laboratory and instrumental studies show confidence about safety and good tolerability of the vaccine.

The first group of volunteers who tested the vaccine has already been discharged from the clinic. They all feel good. On the 42nd day after the first vaccination, the volunteers will return to the hospital for another day and undergo a final medical examination and diagnosis.

New vaccine may be available for public use in August.
