Delegation of Tashkent city khokimiyat, led by Deputy Khokim Shukhrat Turdikulov discussed issues of urbanization, disaster management and elimination of consequences of emergencies at Tokyo International Urban Mayors Summit.
According to Dunyo News Agency, the delegation of Uzbekistan informed participants about ongoing reforms in Tashkent, improving the infrastructure of the city, its economic, investment and tourism potential.
Following the summit, a Declaration on further expansion of cooperation between Tokyo and Tashkent in counteraction of the natural disasters' effects and elimination of consequences was read out.
Uzbekistan delegation also held meetings in Nagoya and presented the investment potential of Tashkent.
Mayor of the city of Nagoya Takashi Kawamura expressed readiness to organize a visit of Nagoya businesspeople to Tashkent for holding a business workshop. The parties agreed to develop an action plan for development of cooperation in cultural-humanitarian and tourism spheres within the framework of practical implementation of the Memorandum signed in March 2019.
The parties agreed to hold an event “Nagoya meets Tashkent” in June, in Nagoya.
During the visit to Nagoya University, the delegation of Uzbekistan presented the investment potential of Tashkent. Vice President of Nagoya University Masafumi Nakahigashi noted that the University focuses on organization and holding of the third meeting of universities’ rectors of the two countries in Uzbekistan, in July 2019.
