Bukhara hosts Melon Festival

Bukhara hosts traditional Melon Festival (Qovun sayli), on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

 

Melon Festival, which was held annually on the Fountain Square of the regional center, took place in 11 places of the city this year.
 
At the festival, held since 1996, visitors can buy different kinds of varieties, such as Kukcha, Amiri, Novvoti, Burikalla, Kampirchopon, Dahbedi, Sherozi, Toshloqi, Gulobi, Barginay – about 30 varieties in general.
 
On the first day of the festival, 197 farms from all districts of the region brought 1217 tons of melons and watermelons. Fruit and honey fairs are also held during the event.
