Senators considered 17 issues and 4 laws

17 issues, including 4 laws have been considered during the Eighth Plenary Session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

Special attention was paid to development of the Aral Sea Region. In particular, it was noted that the relevant state program for 2017-2021 was approved, aimed at improving the conditions and quality of life of the region’s population, a Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region and the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin under the President of Uzbekistan were established. Large-scale activity is underway to create a green area on 2 million hectares of land.
 
The Law “On precious metals and precious stones” was discussed at the meeting. It was noted that in order to reduce state interference in the activities of enterprises engaged in industrial mining of precious metals, it is necessary to review the norms of relevant articles of the law and bring them into line with the norms of the current legislation. As a result, a decision was made to reject this law.
 
Senators approved the law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility”, which provides for transfer of the power to apply administrative penalties for administrative offenses related to violations of rules of combating epidemics to the Service of Sanitary-Epidemiological Wellbeing, public health and internal affairs bodies.
 
The senators discussed and approved the laws “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with further improvement of the legislation on public security” and “On introducing amendments and addenda to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
