The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy together with the National Office of the EU’s Erasmus+ Program in Tashkent organized a meeting between the leadership of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadaster and experts of the University of Pisa, via videoconference.
The parties discussed the state and prospects for the implementation of the project on establishing a branch (campus) of the University of Pisa in Tashkent, as well as coordination of further actions taking into account quarantine restrictions.
Rector of the University of Pisa, Professor Paolo Mancarella noted that the University has long-standing cooperation with Uzbekistan within the framework of a number of projects of Erasmus+ program. He emphasized that the University sees the country as a strategic partner in Central Asia and is interested in rising relations to a new level.
The professor expressed gratitude for the support provided by the government of Uzbekistan in implementation of the project on creating a campus in Tashkent. He confirmed the readiness and interest of the University of Pisa in promoting this initiative within the framework of internationalization of the activities of this university.
It was proposed to establish a dialogue and cooperation between geologists and surveyors of Italy and Uzbekistan for exchanging experience and opinions within the framework of implementing the project.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on development of an appropriate agreement and the start of the project in 2020-2021 academic year.
