According to Uzbekkino National Agency, the Artistic Council of this structure considered and unanimously approved the script of Akbar Bekturdiyev’s film “Sakura Scent”, dedicated to the fate of Japanese soldiers who were captured during World War II and who remained forever in Uzbekistan.
The film is planned to be shot in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan.
In the fall of 1945, by the order of the former Soviet government, thousands of captured Japanese soldiers were sent to remote areas of the country, in particular, to Uzbekistan. Japanese prisoners of war at that time took an active part in construction of many places and structures in Tashkent and the regions, the Fergana valley.
