Uzbekistan’s FM attends SCO Ministerial Council Meeting

On September 9-10, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in Moscow.

 

Heads of foreign ministries of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with participation of the SCO Secretary-General and the Director of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, discussed the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the organization.
 
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the ministers reviewed the draft agenda and documents proposed for signing during a meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States.
 
Views were exchanged on expanding the interaction of the organization’s member states in promoting the peace process in Afghanistan. It was noted that the involvement of Afghanistan in the regional economic process and infrastructure projects contributes to sustainable development and stabilization of the entire SCO space.
 
At the event, special attention was paid to the current aspects of further expanding partnership between the SCO and relevant UN agencies. In this context, the importance of signing memorandums of understanding between the SCO and such UN institutions as the Economic Commission for Europe, ESCAP, UNCTAD and WHO was expressed.
 
The parties also exchanged views on the current international and regional issues. Appropriate decisions were signed on certain issues.
 
Following the meeting, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin received the heads of delegations.
