Uzbekistan representatives take part in the second general assembly of the Asia National Assembly Water Consultative Board

Members and participants of the Board exchanged new laws and other regulatory documents adopted by the member countries in water resources, made joint proposals for development and amending relevant laws, participation in international conferences and political sessions on water issues in Asia. The importance of the agenda issues, conducting joint research on water issues and cooperation with all water organizations in Asia for more effective organization of AAWC activities was emphasized.

 

Interaction between AAWC and the Special Committee of the Asian Water Council, expanding the membership of AAWC, as well as measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and prospects for further cooperation were discussed at the conference.

 

Boriy Alikhanov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, spoke about the large-scale measures taken in Uzbekistan in recent years for the rational use of water resources. He also noted that work is underway in the country to address environmental problems caused by the drying up of the Aral Sea and mitigate its negative consequences.

 

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further cooperation in this area.
