UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE AT POLISH MFA VISITS UZBEKISTAN

On July 1, 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with Undersecretary of State for Eastern Policy, Economic Diplomacy and Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Marcin Przydacz, who arrives in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

The agenda of the meeting included current issues of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian, and other areas.

The parties emphasized their commitment to constructive dialogue, expansion of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation.

Specific aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland were discussed, in particular, readiness to increase mutual trade and implementation of joint projects in various sectors of the economy of mutual interest was noted. In this context, a proposal on conducting regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and holding its 7th meeting in the second half of the year in Warsaw was supported.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties also welcomed the opening of the Representative Office of Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Tashkent (September 2018), which will contribute to attracting investment and technology in Uzbekistan’s economy.

Special attention was paid to the development of tourism. The Polish side expressed its gratitude to Uzbekistan for the introduction of visa-free regime for up to 30 days for Polish citizens from February 1, 2019, which will allow intensifying the flow of tourists from Poland to Uzbekistan. Currently, the issue of establishing direct flights between Tashkent and Warsaw is being studied.

Issues of deepening cooperation in cultural-humanitarian and scientific-educational spheres were discussed at the meeting.
