President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the Akaltyn district in Syrdarya region. Responsible officials provided information on flood damage and measures taken to eliminate the consequences.
The Shodlik and Ahillik mahallas in the district suffered from the disaster. More than 11 thousand people were evacuated from here to the city of Gulistan, as well as to Mirzachul and Dustlik districts of the neighboring Jizzakh region. Due to the disaster, a total of 13,397 hectares of cotton, grain and melon crops were damaged in the area.
To those in charge the head of state pointed out the necessity of studying the needs of each family, repairing the housing and returning the families to homes with normal conditions.
In Mirzaabad district, the President met with representatives of the senior generation and the wider the public, as well as mahalla activists.
This district is also one of the most affected by the flood. About 15 thousand people living in the Navbahor, Hakikat, Bahoriston and Yuldoshobod mahallas are relocated to the Yangiobod mahalla and the city of Yangiyer. In total, 7,084 hectares of agricultural land were damaged.
The head of state emphasized the need for taking into account the opinion of the local population in carrying out construction and repair works, solving the problems of dehkans and farmers on site.
Residents thanked the President for being with them in this difficult time, as well as for the extensive work undertaken within a short time and the normalization of life.
Here, with government members and responsible executives the head of our state discussed the impending re-development of agricultural land, overhaul of roads and bridges, and relevant measures were identified.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev then returned to Tashkent.
