The new Ambassador of Iceland accredited in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, February 17. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Ambassador of Iceland with residence in Moscow, Árni Þór Sigurðsson, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

Accepting the credentials, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a high and responsible post and wished him successful work.

The current state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan – Iceland cooperation, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations, were discussed at the meeting.

Proposals were considered to increase trade-economic and investment ties, including the establishment of direct contacts between business circles, and the implementation of joint projects in renewable energy.

The sides expressed interest in developing inter-parliamentary ties, the legal framework of bilateral relations, cooperation in education and training, and cooperation in the tourism sector.

Views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
