Senate Chairperson holds talks with WHO and WIPO heads

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva has held talks with the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WIPO Director General, Daren Tang.

At the meeting, WHO Director-General, congratulating on the election of Uzbekistan to the UN Human Rights Council, noted that this is a vivid confirmation and recognition of the large-scale reforms undertaken by the international community under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to protect human rights, as well as evidence of strong commitment of Uzbekistan to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
 
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the support and following the methodological recommendations of the organization headed by him during the spread of coronavirus infection.
 
WHO Director-General stated his readiness to study the issue of including Uzbekistan in the Maternal and Child Health Protection Program, implemented jointly with the Warren Buffett Foundation (USA) for the implementation of technical assistance projects.
 
At the meeting with WIPO Director General, it was noted that the organization is closely following the changes taking place in Uzbekistan on the protection of intellectual property rights.
 
It was emphasized that cooperation with Uzbekistan experts will continue to improve the rating positions of the country next year. Daren Tang also expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for providing data for inclusion in the Global Innovation Index 2020.
