Recommendations for further reforming the energy sector

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan organized a roundtable discussion on further reforming the country’s energy sector, which was attended by representatives of a number of international financial institutions, via videoconference.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the event was attended by the Minister of Energy, Deputy Ministers of Finance, as well as Investments and Foreign Trade, heads of the State Assets Management Agency, joint-stock companies Uzbekneftegaz, Uztransgaz, Hududgaztaminot, National Electrical Networks of Uzbekistan, Thermal Power Plants, Regional Electric Networks.
 
Foreign participants were representatives of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a number of international legal and audit companies, as well as experts and consultants.
 
The parties discussed the recommendations and roadmaps for further reforming the electricity, oil and gas industries. They were prepared by international experts and consultants from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
 
Representatives of international financial institutions expressed their readiness for further technical assistance in the implementation of the proposed reforms in the energy sector.
