TASHKENT, November 21. /Dunyo IA/. Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visisted the Uzbekfilm studio to get a first-hand view of the cardinal transformation in progress in the movie industry of our country, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in his Address to the Oliy Majlis this year, the head of state noted the need to create motion pictures, TV series and documentaries of high creative level, advance Uzbekistan’s modern film industry, including through the construction of cinemas.

For this purpose, the sphere has received large funding. All pavilions of Uzbekfilm were repaired and the amenities conducive for creative work were secured. The film studio and documentary film studio are outfitted now with state-of-the-art equipment.

Here, the President talked with the national cinematography’s veterans, filmmakers and specialists.

“Cinema is a rather intricate sphere, important for our people and society,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested. “Previously, the Uzbekfilm studio used to be in a deplorable state. Many premises and buildings were rented out. And now everything has returned to its owners – the cinematographers.”

Due to the lack of attention to the sphere over the years, it has faced stagnation. The motion pictures produced have been mostly shallow and commercial-oriented, and the industry as a whole lagged behind the world developments.

Thanks to the recent attention and support, the films have changed in content. In particular, such historical productions as Imom Termiziy, Islomkhuja, Elparvar, Kukon Shamoli, 101, Ibrat have earned popular respect.

“Though the films made in recent years are insignificant in number, they are deeper in sense and magnitude,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted at the meeting.

The President stressed that our people should not fall into the influence of foreign television series, but also know their history, arts, literature, values, and be brought up in this spirit.

“Cinematography is a backbone of enlightenment. We need to open a corresponding school. Currently, in light of the lack of high-quality motion pictures I can see the desire to shoot good works. There must be a film about the history of Uzbekistan. The time has come for this,” the head of state emphasized.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev recommended that a list of top 100 Uzbek films be compiled and aired on state and private TV channels.

To perpetuate the memory of the greatest figures of the national cinematography, the President proposed to name secondary schools in each region after such popularly beloved actors and actresses as Razzok Hamroyev, Shukur Burhanov, Nabi Rahimov, Hamza Umarov, Lutfikhonim Sarimsokova.

Views expressed at the meeting included those concerning a more profound study of the achievements in the global film industry and their application to our realities, promotion of qualification through training young specialists, for example, at the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK).

The President came up with an idea to set up a children’s film studio.
