PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES OF THE OSCE PARTICIPATING STATES VISIT UZBEKISTAN

Permanent Representatives of the OSCE Participating States to Vienna arrived in Uzbekistan.

The visit is organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Austria. On October 10, a meeting with representatives of the delegation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The readiness of Uzbekistan to work closely with the OSCE was noted at the meeting. Ambassadors praised the large-scale transformations in the domestic and foreign policies of Uzbekistan carried out in accordance with the Action Strategy.

Members of the delegation met with the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva. At the meeting, guests were introduced to the activities of the upper house of parliament.

Members of the delegation noted the intensification of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, the active participation of members of parliament in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and its annual sessions.

It is expected that the mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will observe the elections in Uzbekistan on December 22 this year. In this regard, heads of the OSCE missions also met with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov.

At the meeting, delegation members were informed about the process of preparing for the parliamentary elections.

During the visit, diplomats will visit Samarkand to attend the roundtable discussion organized by the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and devoted to the current issues of ensuring freedom of media in Uzbekistan and ongoing reforms.
