ON UZBEKISTAN – FINLAND POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS

The eighth round of Uzbekistan – Finland inter-MFA political consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dilshod Akhatov, the Finnish side was represented by a delegation led by Director General of the MFA Department for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia Maimo Henriksson.

The agenda of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism, cultural-humanitarian, and other areas, as well as prospects for cooperation in Uzbekistan – European Union format,  were discussed in detail during the negotiations.

It was noted that the parties have considerable potential to enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest and are ready to expand bilateral ties.

In this context, the proposal to resume the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, previous meeting of which was held in 2002, was considered.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the sides exchanged views on key aspects of international and regional issues.

The Ambassador of Finland Maria Elina Liimala attended the negotiations.
