MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TAJIKISTAN

On January 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who arrived in Samarkand city to attend the first Ministerial Meeting of “India – Central Asia” Dialogue with participation of Afghanistan.

The parties emphasized that the exchange of visits at the highest level in 2018 opened a new chapter in strategic partnership.

The ministers considered proposals on the schedule and agenda of the upcoming joint events in 2019, including at the parliamentary, governmental and other levels.

It was emphasized that in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan special importance is attached to expansion of mutual trade, which for 11 months of the last year grew by 62% compared to the same period of 2017.

In this context, a proposal was considered for further increasing bilateral trade, expanding the range of mutual deliveries.

The ministers also exchanged views on practical aspects of participation of Tajikistan delegation in the Advisory Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia in the city of Tashkent.

The parties noted with satisfaction that the opening of borders for citizens of the two countries for visa-free travel for up to 30 days was warmly supported by people of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Other issues of bilateral relations and international politics were also considered at the meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Tajikistan Sodiq Imomi.
