LONDON HOSTS UZBEKISTAN – BRITISH CONSULTATIONS

On December 6, London hosted Uzbekistan – British consultations with participation of the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and the Special Representative of the British Prime Minister for Afghanistan and Pakistan Gareth Bayley.

The sides exchanged views on development of the situation in Afghanistan and the adjacent region, the efforts on launching inter-Afghan negotiation process.

Special attention was paid to important areas of cooperation within the framework of implementation of Tashkent Declaration, adopted on March 27, 2018 at the representative international conference on Afghanistan “Peace Process, Security Cooperation and Regional Connectivity”.

The British side noted the consistent actions of Uzbekistan, supported by the international community, on promoting the peace process with participation of the Taliban Movement, as well as all the inter-Afghan political forces.

The sides expressed interest in implementing joint socio-economic projects in Afghanistan, including in infrastructure, cultural, humanitarian, as well as educational spheres.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev also attended a number of events at leading British research and analytical centers.
