European Union Project discussed

At the initiative of the European Union, a videoconference took place to discuss the implementation of the EU’s Project 65 “Strengthening chemical and biological waste management in Central Asia countries for improved security and safety risk mitigation”.

 

The event was attended by representatives of the State Industrial Safety Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, EU Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence for Central Asia, as well as Military Institute of Chemistry and Radiometry – MICHR, Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology – MIHE (Poland), Fondazione Formit, Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Molecolari – ISTM-CNR, Fondazione Alessandro Volta – FAV (Italy).
 
Participants of the event emphasized that issues of chemical and biological waste management still remain relevant, despite the current situation in connection with coronavirus pandemic. Activities have been carried out on the implementation of the Project 65. The project is expected to be either extended or completed in the middle of the next year.
 
Representatives of foreign specialized structures announced the progress of the project, focused on positive work of local experts in implementation of the project.
 
The Project 65 is aimed at strengthening existing chemical and biological waste management capabilities to ensure safe and secure collection, transportation, separation, processing, storage, disposal and inventory of hazardous waste.
