Policy and security dialogue

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov has taken part in the next round of the Virtual Dialogue on Political and Security Issues “European Union – Central Asia”.

 

According to the MFA, the European side was represented by the Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid, the Central Asian countries – at the level of supervising deputy foreign ministers.
 
Traditionally, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan also took part in the event.
 
The parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of cooperation between the Central Asian countries, interaction of the region’s states with the EU in security, as well as discussed issues of assistance in achieving peace in Afghanistan through its active involvement in regional socio-economic process.
 
The importance of continuing close interaction and joining efforts to effectively combat the coronavirus pandemic and minimize its consequences was emphasized.
 
Main attention was paid to the integration of Central Asia into the global economy, the development of transport and transit corridors, as well as creation of border trade zones between the states of the region.
