Pakistani experts about the constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan

The Development Strategy Center together with Pakistani partners organized a roundtable discussion on “Analysis of reforms implemented within the framework of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan”.

According to the Development Strategy Center, the event was attended by the Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Combating Corruption and Judicial Legal Issues Jakhongir Shirinov, experts of the Research Center of Pakistan “Society of a Common Future”, representatives of the Supreme Court of Islamabad, domestic and foreign experts in the politics, law, economics, representatives of scientific circles.

The participants discussed positive changes in Uzbekistan, views were exchanged on strengthening the constitutional and legal foundations of the ongoing reforms.

Domestic experts provided information on the essence and significance of the Draft Constitutional Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and on all stages of constitutional reforms.

It was noted that amendments and additions are being made to the Draft Constitutional Law concerning the protection of economic rights of citizens, private property and freedom of economic activity. These changes will serve as a solid legal basis for the prosperous life of the people in the future.

Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Combating Corruption and Judicial Legal Issues, member of the Constitutional Commission Jakhongir Shirinov informed about all stages of the constitutional reforms and the participation of the general public in this process.

Pakistani experts also expressed their views on the constitutional reform process in Uzbekistan.

According to the expert, to consistently continue the reforms initiated, it became a natural necessity to carry out constitutional reform in the country. The expert also recognized the importance of the constitutional amendments based on the national values of the people, guaranteeing the personal rights and freedoms of citizens, in particular, young people, who make up the bulk of the country’s population.

Following the event, an agreement was reached on a joint analysis by the research centers of the two countries of the reformation processes in Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as on further development of cooperation.
