Over 81 thousand proposals received

As is known, the draft Constitutional Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was submitted for public discussion until July 15 this year.

To date, more than 81,000 proposals for this draft law have been received from citizens and civil society institutions. 

This was noted at the joint meeting of the committees of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Combating Corruption, Judicial and Legal Issues and Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Civil Society Institutions.

At the meeting, the participants considered issues of reflecting proposals and opinions in the draft Constitutional Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, submitted for public discussion.

A nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law is widely organized in all regions of the country in state bodies, civil society institutions, enterprises, institutions and organizations. The essence and significance of constitutional reforms are explained to the general public.

Citizens’ proposals are considered and analyzed on an ongoing basis by members of responsible committees, the working group for working with proposals and the consolidated information and analytical group under the Constitutional Commission. Thus, the draft Constitutional Law was finalized based on the substantiated proposals.

Following the event, the committees identified priority tasks for improving the draft Constitutional Law.
